Night Shift Kennel Technician – Barkz & Rec (South San Francisco)

Pay: $20–$22/hour, depending on experience, plus tips
Shift: 10 PM – 6 AM | Full-time or part-time | All days of the week available
Benefits: paid sick time, regular raises, extra shifts during holidays and peak season

About Us:
Barkz & Rec is a boarding, daycare, training, and grooming facility in South San Francisco. Our overnight team is what lets owners sleep easy while their dogs stay with us. We’re looking for a dependable, calm night owl to keep our boarding dogs safe, comfortable, and happy overnight.

What You’ll Do:

Take dogs out one at a time for overnight potty breaks.
Supervise our “slumber party” boarding dogs in group play and rest areas.
Read dog body language and step in early to prevent conflicts.
Keep kennels and play areas clean, safe, and ready for the morning crew.
Note any health or behavior concerns for the day team.

What the Job Is Really Like:
We want you to know what you’re signing up for:

Mostly solo. You’ll usually be the only person on site, with a second teammate on busy nights. You need to be comfortable making decisions on your own.
Physical and outdoors. Expect to be on your feet, lifting, cleaning, and working outside in heat, cold, and rain.
Busy and loud. Group dogs can be noisy and unpredictable. Staying calm under pressure matters more than anything.

You’ll Be a Great Fit If You:

Are reliable and show up on time, every shift.
Have experience handling dogs of different sizes and temperaments (professional experience is a plus but not required).
Stay calm and solve problems on your own.
Pay attention to the small details, like a dog not eating, a latch not closing, or a dog acting off.
Enjoy getting to know each dog and building trust with them.
Are comfortable working overnight and doing physical work.

How to Apply:
Apply here or email Info@barkzandrecsf.com with the subject line “Night Kennel Tech.” Please include:

Your resume or a few lines about your experience with dogs.
Which nights you’re available.
Whether you’re looking for full-time or part-time.

We review applications on a rolling basis and would love to hear from you!
